Iin one of the best games of the season, Serbia Nikola Jokic showed why he was named NBA Most Valuable Player last season by leading the Denver nuggets to a thrilling 130-128 overtime win over the Los Angeles Clippers Wednesday night.
Jokic scored a season high 49 dots, but he also had a triple-double with 14 rebounds and 10 assists.
The Jokic-Gordon combination secured victory
The last of 10 assists came with just 1.7 seconds left in extra time, when the European center delivered a fabulous pass past the double mark, crossing the pitch and finding Aaron Gordon in the corner who connected a three-pointer to give the home team a three-point lead.
After a technical foul, the Clippers came within two runs and on a desperate half-court attempt, Reggie Jackson came just short of giving Los Angeles the win.
Jokic’s recital climaxed in the most important moments, like 11 of his 49 points came in overtime while he was simply unstoppable.
In addition to the winning basket, Gordon also had a great performance with 28 points, another outstanding Nuggets player was Mount Morris who had 19 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.
Big nights for Zubac and Jackson
As usual, the Clippers were without injuries Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, as well as French Nicholas Batum. The most notable players of this game were Ivica Zubac and the aforementioned Reggie Jackson, both with double-doubles, the Croatian post with 32 points and 10 rebounds, and the American point guard with 28 points and 12 assists.
With this result, Denver (23-20) remains in sixth place in the Western Conference, while Los Angeles (22-24) drops to ninth place in the same standings.

The Nuggets’ next game is this Friday when they host the Memphis Girzzlies.
For their part, the Clippers will return to the court the same day to visit the Philadelphia 76ers.
