Cremonese is confident he can secure a deal for Pape Matar Sarr tomorrow despite Tottenham Hotspur’s hesitation to loan out the midfielder, according to a report by Tuttomercatoweb.
Sarr is a Spurs player with a major question mark hanging over his future. The youngster spent last season on loan with Metz after moving to north London.
Many would have expected the 19-year-old to leave on loan. It doesn’t look like Antonio Conte feels quite ready for his first-team plans.
However, there has been a surprise twist this week as a move to Cremonese has seemingly come closer. Reports claimed Spurs decided to keep the teenager after Rodrigo Bentancur picked up the injury.
But it looks like the Serie A outfit aren’t ready to throw in the towel. Tuttomercatoweb report that Tottenham still want to know how long Bentancur will be out before letting Sarr go.
However, Cremonese is optimistic about getting the green light to loan him out tomorrow. But they are keeping their options open and considering other targets.
Cremonese confident of being able to reach an agreement with Sarr
Tottenham have real depth in the middle of the park at the moment. Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have forged a brilliant complicity in recent months.
Meanwhile, Conte still has Yves Bissouma to properly unleash. And Tottenham fans are hoping Oliver Skipp can get back to his best when he returns from injury.
But Tottenham is now back in the Champions League. And they hope to fight for the Premier League title. So their team is going to be stretched.
In an ideal world, they would allow Sarr to let him continue to develop. But Conte will be careful not to let himself be short in the coming months.
