Mathilde Roh, cornet soloist of the Brass Band Treize Etoiles will lead the Cornet Flowers section at the Royal Albert Hall.
The Flowers Band will benefit from a Swiss hyperlink to their Great Britain National Championship challenge at the Royal Albert Hall later this month.
As cornet solo star Luke Barker began his studies in Switzerland, the band acted to strengthen its European ties by signing Brass Band Treize Etoiles cornet soloist Mathilde Roh for the competition.
Mathilde has already enjoyed considerable playing success in her short career – being a member of the Brass Band Treize Etoiles since 2017 and the National Youth Brass Band of Switzerland from 2012 to 2019.
She also won Switzerland’s prestigious national junior solo championship twice, before adding a hat-trick of senior Blue Riband titles (above).
In an interview with 4BR in 2021, she revealed that she would love to play with a top British band on the big shows, and now the opportunity has arisen.
I’m honored to have the opportunity to play for the Flowers Band, especially in such a prestigious venue. I am very excitedMathilde Roh
Looking forward to making her Albert Hall debut with Flowers, she said, “I’m honored to have the opportunity to play for the Flowers Band, especially at such a prestigious venue. I’m very excited.”
Meanwhile, Luke is also looking forward to his Swiss National Championship debut in Montreux with the Brass Band Fribourg.
‘I am delighted to join Friborg and I was struck by the warm welcome I received from a great group. I look forward to playing with them over the next year and am very grateful to Fredrick Théodoloz for making this opportunity possible.
I also wish good luck to Mathilde. She’s a wonderful player.”
