This month, American Way Media, an Austin-based SEO company, launched its first Forensic SEO Live Training course.
The training is led by AWM Director, SEO Researcher and Tester, Carolyn Holzman. It consists of four (4) live sessions spread over 4 weeks. Modules currently include – Week 1: Technical Issues, Week 2: On Page Issues, Week 3 – Dive into Link Profiles and Week 4: Below Page.
The live training aspect is a departure from standard pre-recorded video course development. By having direct interaction, participants are encouraged to ask questions and bring their own puzzling real-world examples to the discussion table in a closed environment.
“My career has been built on reverse engineering what worked for others and incorporating that knowledge into what I did for my clients who wanted to be found for that same research,” Holzman said. . “The private nature of the live, in-person training with no replays provides a comfortable space for participants.”
She continued, “In my decade plus of doing what I do, I find that most of the time site owners or SEOs just focus on the site they are working on without gleaning valuable insights from their competitors, especially those that outperform them.”
“In general, I find that most of us overvalue our own SEO work and undervalue, or worse, dismiss work that others have done and clearly done successfully. For me, forensic SEO, like testing, is a process of learning what works My experience as both an SEO and SEO tester has shown me that even without the drop in rankings or panic loss of traffic that is primarily identified with the need for a forensic SEO audit, there is a lot in these SERPS to teach us and inform our work to make our sites more visible with search.
In addition to his SEO advice and testing, Holzman is also the host of the hit podcast Confessions of an SEO, now in its 2nd season with an audience spanning seventy (70) countries. Confessions is about the “human side” of SEO rather than a direct source of SEO tactics. In addition to stories about his SEO career, some episodes cover the results of his own SEO tests.
One of the ongoing tests is the public test in which it has published daily results since late August 2021. This test project concerns the widespread lack of Google indexing new content published and submitted through the Google Search Console that Holzman has noticed when she started testing one-week indexing. basis earlier in 2021. confession can be found wherever podcasts are available.
