The Facebook-owned social media platform announced the news via Twitter on October 27. Instagram had started testing link stickers in June, but so far functionality has been limited to verified accounts or accounts with a large number of followers.

According to the social media giant, link stickers are useful for anyone, from businesses who log in to their products to activists who log in to external resources. But Instagram said anyone can benefit from link sharing to engage with their followers. He also said accounts repeatedly sharing disinformation or hate speech would lose access.

When Instagram announced the Link Stickers feature in June, the company pointed out that they are only for Stories posts and said they have no plans to embed them into the main Instagram feed or any other website. ‘other parts of the application. This remains the status quo today.

The Link Stickers feature has now completely replaced “swipe up”, which was how Instagram users could previously link to external web pages from their stories, and which the platform has abandoned. in August.

But with today’s news, link stickers are now more widely available than the swipe up, as the old functionality was only available to verified accounts or accounts with over 10,000 subscribers.

  1. After uploading content to create a new story, navigate to the sticker tool in the top navigation bar.
  2. Press the Connect sticker and enter the URL you want to share. The link sticker will now be created.
  3. Place and resize the link sticker as you like on your story.
