TalkSPORT’s Tony Cascarino has slammed Manchester City star Jack Grealish and insisted a loan move isn’t out of the question if he doesn’t improve.
Grealish has only shown flashes of brilliance so far which has seen City part ways with £100m for him. He helped them win the Premier League title, but so far he hasn’t quite reached the levels he did with Villa.
And according to TalkSPORT’s Cascarino, Grealish must take over or risk falling by the wayside under Pep Guardiola.
“Jack has a problem. You can’t be a £100m player and be OK, your level is higher than that. City’s standard is higher than that and he’s been six out of ten too many times,” Cascarino said on TalkSPORT.
“At the end of the season if he doesn’t raise his standards, which we know he is capable of and why they paid £100million for him, he will probably be loaned out or he could end up at Villa. . He doesn’t play well enough regularly for Man City. I’m not talking about being OK, six out of ten. He should be eight or nine years old. He has so much quality.
Grealish struggled at times against a resolute Liverpool defense yesterday. With Raheem Sterling sold to Chelsea, the Englishman will have to rise to the occasion this season.
TBR’s view: Grealish can succeed at City
He hasn’t exactly been a failure of a signing, but City fans will be right to think they could get just over a £100m signing.
However, Grealish has more than enough talent to pull it off. And if he can just find some consistency with regular playing time, the player we’ve all seen at Villa should shine.
Cascarino is right here, although his comment on the loan seems a bit extreme.
